The term tapestry has several meanings: i) the textile technique in which what predominates is the spacing of the weft threads over those of the warp, to the point of hiding them; ii) the use of this technique to produce precise pictorial textile figures; iii) the use of this type of figuration specifically for wall decorations; iv) the use of pictorial figures in any kind of cloth.

El término tapiz tiene varios significados: i) la técnica textil en que predomina el espaciamiento de los hilos de trama sobre los hilos de urdimbre, hasta ocultarlos; ii) el uso de esta técnica para lograr figuras textiles pictóricas precisas; iii) el uso de este tipo de figuración específicamente para decoraciones de mural; y iv) el uso de figuras pictóricas en cualquier tipo de tela.
